What does a managed offshore assistant do?
What a managed offshore assistant does day to day, how management and QA work, and what they should not do.
Short answer
A managed offshore assistant is a dedicated, full-time professional abroad who handles recurring work such as calendar and inbox management, CRM updates, research, reporting and bookkeeping entry. The managing provider recruits and vets them, sets up secure access, reviews their output against a scorecard and replaces them if the fit is wrong.
What does a typical day look like?
A morning check-in on priorities, inbox triage and calendar changes, then owned workflows such as CRM hygiene, list building, vendor follow-ups or bank-feed categorization, and an end-of-day summary of what was done and what is blocked.
What does the 'managed' part add?
The provider handles sourcing, skills testing, references, equipment and internet checks, onboarding checklists, weekly QA reviews, coverage during leave and replacement. You still direct the work day to day.
What should an offshore assistant not do?
They should not give legal, tax or medical advice, sign on your behalf, move money without your approval, or hold shared admin passwords. Licensed activities stay with licensed people.
