Part of our guide: How to manage a remote team in the Philippines
A short weekly 1:1 keeps a remote assistant aligned and gives them a safe place to raise issues. Here's a 15-minute agenda. Part of our managing remote PH teams guide.
The 15-minute agenda
- Wins (2 min): what went well this week.
- Blockers (4 min): anything waiting on you, missing access, unclear instructions.
- Priorities (4 min): the top three things for next week.
- Feedback both ways (3 min): one thing to keep, one thing to change. Ask them for one thing you could do better.
- Delegate next (2 min): one task you'll hand over next.
How do you prepare?
Ask the assistant to fill in the agenda in a shared doc before the call. Read it beforehand so the meeting is about decisions, not status.
What should you not use the 1:1 for?
Routine status updates (put those in the end-of-day summary) and serious performance issues (handle those separately and promptly).
