Contractor vs EOR: a plain-English decision guide.
ExecWing's default is a dedicated, managed assistant on a contractor model. Optional employer-of-record (EOR) employment is available when you want a formal local employment relationship. Use this guide to see which path fits.
Optional either way. You do not need EOR to work with ExecWing. Both paths give you a dedicated assistant on a customized schedule based on your needs and budget, with ExecWing management. Plans are customized to your needs and budget.
Three questions that usually decide it
1. Do you need local employee status?
If your policy, customer, insurer or board expects a locally employed team member — not a contractor — optional EOR is worth exploring.
2. Do you want local statutory benefits administered in-country?
If yes, EOR typically puts payroll, statutory contributions, mandated benefits and leave under a local employment partner. If no, the contractor model is usually enough.
3. Is simplicity the priority right now?
If you mainly want a dedicated, managed assistant and do not need local employment, stay on the default contractor model. You can add EOR later.
Quick comparison
| Choose contractor (default) | Choose optional EOR | |
|---|---|---|
| Goal | Dedicated help without local employment admin | Formal local employment where the assistant lives |
| Employment | Contractor model through ExecWing's managed placement | Local employment partner as legal employer (typical) |
| You still | Direct the work | Direct the work |
| ExecWing still | Recruits, QA-reviews, supports | Recruits, QA-reviews, supports, and coordinates EOR |
| Switch later? | Yes — add EOR when you want it | Discuss changes with your account lead |
Confirm scope for the assistant's country
Philippines, Mexico and Colombia each have their own mandatory benefits — such as social security and health contributions, 13th-month or year-end pay, and paid leave — that exist and vary. We confirm details in writing; we do not publish rates or figures on the site.

Decision guide questions
Can I start as a contractor and move to EOR later?
Usually yes. Ask your account lead; we confirm what applies in the assistant's country first.
Does choosing EOR change who my assistant is?
No. You keep the dedicated assistant and ExecWing management. The employment relationship and local payroll path change.
Will you tell me which model is legally required?
We share general information and confirm operational scope in writing. We do not give legal advice. For classification questions, talk with your counsel.
How is either path priced?
Plans are customized to your needs and budget. Optional add-ons are included in your written proposal. We never publish dollar amounts for these add-ons on the site.
